Owel's Head Lighthouse

Owl's head lighthouse was built in 18 25 on an oddly shaped hill with two large depressions in the face of the rock that were said to remind locals of an owl. Three passengers aboard a schooner left behind when it broke apart during a winter storm are believed to have made their way there. The ship drifted east, then south, and finally unded the rocky peninsula before smashing against the rocks south of the light. All 14 crew members survived, but the ship was lost, stranding them without help or supplies. As the unfortunate sailors died one by one, the survivors were forced to eat the dead or face starvation.
