Memantine and Colon Strace Inhibitors in Dementia

You talked about how Memantine is often used in moderate to severe dementia. My understanding is that the first line treatment is typically colonnestrace inhibitors. I'm wondering when you're going through the thought process of prescribing one or both of these medications to a particular patient what are you thinking about? It may be reliant on a combination of the latest neuropsych testing and sometimes that's as simple as looking like the MOCA or the Mini-Mental keeping a track of how people's cognitive deficits are if they're continuing to decline.
