I think people want to live in a morally convenient universe. I think that we have completely destroyed the idea of a nuanced moral perspective. Another layer of complexity on this Kanye West situation is that there isn't just moral condemnation. And as you say, the answer here might be to tell him to step away from his Twitter account,. But there are people online who vocally support him.
