Luke says these men were flogged and the text keeps going. No description is given of the crucifixion because everybody reading the story had seen one or the aftermath. For them, it was a badge of honor. The apostles left the Sanhedrin rejoicing. They had to be carried out probably because they had been counted worthy of suffering. Men who no longer feared death. And what would cause a man to lose his fear of death when you watch your Rabbi crucified? You realize God has done something miraculous. That's where our word gospel comes from.
