I think if kids feel safe expressing their distress to their parents, that's a good thing. And I don't think it makes sense to see crying as a bad thing. It wasn't that the parent was like, oh, wow, now I get how much my kid wants this, but now I feel embarrassed that my kid is crying, right? To me, that distinction does matter.
