Herodian, Book 6, 1.2

Herodian is very careful to stress how much power this advisory council had. The form of the printable which changed from a high handed tyranny to an aristocratic type of government was approved by the people and the soldiers as well as the Senate. This kind of change between types of regimes is rooted in Greek political theory but it's actually too simplistic to understand what's actually taking place at court.
