The Haters of Joseph's Brothers

A foundational text that I want us to consider on this Sunday afternoon is Genesis chapter 37. Joseph being 17 years old was feeding the flock with his brothers and the lad was with his sons of Billia and the sons of Zilpa. His father's wife and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father. Now Israel, remember God changed Jacob's name to Israel. So we're talking about the same person. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they loved him. They hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.
