"I always wanted to be an actress because I really felt an outlet for myself," she said. "When my braces came off, I was like 15 around like what? Yeah, 15, 16." She says her religious upbringing and grandmother's expectations of her made it hard at first. But now that she has come to terms with them, they are empowering, she added.
