The default is a form of affirmative action for white males. That really our default is not a level playing field that people assume it is. How else could you explain the fact that 30% of the American population occupies 90% of Fortune 500 positions or 90% of US President positions? You know we have the inside track and we might even have the starting line 5, 10 yards in advance as opposed to the other way around. And so I think this gets into the model of the E-meter which sort of takes away the concern about fairness but also puts empathy at its center.
