What Are the Keys to Licensing Designer Brands?

Robinson: Licensing became a unsustainable churning of businesses. We knew that we needed to own our own destiny and control our own brand, which is very different than renting somebody else's property. Laxotica would see the B Robinson business and be like, huh, if they can do 10 million dollars with that brand, we can do 50 million dollars withthat brand. We should go after it. And all of a sudden, going back to what I mentioned with stability and security, you know, that brand that we had partnered with and nurtured and tried to build leaves are stable with brands. Then we have to start all over again.
