We're taught about calories, and it's not really until the last like 15 years where we've understood the impact of those calories on our metabolism. And then what really changed my mind about all of this was when people started doing intermittent fasting. They were just naturally burning so many more calories. So now we have these two things together: protein has a higher, higher,mic effect, takes in those protein calories and releases heat in the body. Our body doesn't use it as efficiently if we don't use it. The other thing that we found out recently is that low carb eating raises metabolism by about 200 calories per day.
