Shame triggers a trauma response. We need to do more than just the prefrontal cortex work to get out of the shame. It's because we need to do some body regulation, allow our nervous system to calm down before we can rationally think through the things that are causing the way we're thinking about it. Does that make sense? Yeah, totally.
