What Abolitionists Thought of Douglass?
Douglass was influenced by two important abolitionists in the 1830s. William Lloyd Garrison and Massachusetts based abolitionists started publishing a newspaper called the Liberator. The other thing was that there was a controversy going on in Congress called the petition crisis. And so Douglas was going to be reading those things in the Baltimore newspapers as well as the things that William Lloyd Garrison was publishing.
