The Rise and Fall of Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas was originally a history painter. He ditched the law to pursue art wholeheartedly, studying abroad in Italy and making the grand tour. His work is now displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In 1874 he painted ballet dancers rehearsing for an upcoming performance.
