In the modern context though what do we think Cicero was? How do we define him? I think people think him as a statesman and then secondly as a philosopher. So if people want to do a bit of reading up on Cicero or reading of his works what would you recommend? What is out there that we have quite a lot? We have lots of Cicero's work which is good. People will often refer to the late republic as the Ciceroanian Age because he skews our perception so much of this period. He's very caddy usually in his speeches.
