The Three Dimensions of the Universe
The farther away you look, the longer the wavelength will become. Since we know it's emitted with a very specific wavelength around 21 centimeters, then we observe it at a much longer wavelength. We can actually pinpoint how far back into the history of the universe when this is actually emitted. That gives us that can mean that we're getting a three dimensional map of what's going on in the early universe.
