The Duty of Tenured Faculty to Speak Out
With tenure, with that great privilege comes the responsibility to speak out. And I'm reminded of the emails that I got in the wake of my head showing up on the Fox News website from students at my university who said to me, thank you for doing that. So it really is incumbent upon faculty, especially tenured faculty, to demonstrate a tolerance for a wide variety of views and to stand up for academic freedom and free speech.
