The Crested Hawk Parrot
The Mitaka is hunted zealously throughout the whole of Brazil. It is often tamed, and though not so teachable as other parrots, can be taught to utter disjointed words. Great numbers are brought to the coast and eagerly purchased by sailors. The Crested Hawk Parrot reminds us of the cockatoos. Linnaeus gave it two distinct names: Deroptius esipitrinus and Deroptius coronatus.
