The Effect of Punishment on Learning
Stanley Milgram conducted one of the most famous experiments in psychology. He strapped a man to a chair that could give him an electrical shock if he didn't memorize arbitrary pairs of words. The learner was asked to learn these associations between the words, and when he couldn't remember them, his job was to deliver a small electric shock.
