The Power of Forgiveness

There's a lot of pressure both within and without Christianity to move very quickly to forgiveness. People just walk away with these ideas that are simplified, you know, boiled down version of 'I must forgive' I think there's probably other motivations that would explain the simplistic pressure on people to forgive. Another prong to this is that when you have, say, an abused woman in a church who is upset and sad that her husband beat her one night, the patriarchy wants to keep her down so they will pressure her to forgive along those signs.
