The Japanese Government Refused the Terms of the Potsdam Declaration

On August 6, 1945, the smaller of the two bombs that had been engineered by the Manhattan Project was loaded onto a plane. At 815 Hiroshima time, the Enola Gay dropped the Little Boy. The bomb fell for 45 seconds before exploding. Immediately after explosion, the bomb incinerated buildings and people close to the detonation site. An estimated 70,000 people died in the atomic blast and its aftermath.
