The Metamorphosis of the Establishment

This was like this weird sort of meta thing starting in 2015 and 2016 where broadly speaking, the people who knew better but still supported Trump anyway did so with this desire to smash the establishment. You know, the zombie Reaganism to use a pejorative term. There was this broad coalition of disparate and divergent and often disagreeable people who thought that they would benefit or the country would benefit if the old order, the old dead consensus, as some put it, was overthrown. I don't think libertarians ran Washington for 30 years. The conservatives had every, you know, that I don't Think there was anything like a monolithic conservatism prior to 2015.
