The Secret Weapon in Pastoral Ministry Is Baptism

The amount of re-baptisms I have done as a pastor is kind of extraordinary. It's a dirty little secret in pastoral ministry. We baptize people who should not be baptized. In the first century when somebody was baptized, they lived in a worldview where everybody knew the story they were getting baptized into. The further we go into church history, particularly into the second century, the longer and longer it took to get baptized.
