There's a lot of emotional intelligence that's required here. You need empathy, you need to kind of understand yourself a little bit and understand how you come off, how other people perceive you. And I think that was actually the most surprising thing for me was that when I read the Netflix culture deck, it sounded really like a bunch of engineers who were totally lacking emotional skills. But when I started working there, I saw actually the managers there were spending a lot more time focusing on people management.
