The first hire that you should have instead of your second-in-command is an executive assistant. Don't put a COO title on the person right away. If somebody is like a director of operations, they should be paid 120 grand a year and not that compensation. When I was the CEO of 1,800, I left there 15 years ago,. I was making 306,000 a year, 15 years ago. That's probably equivalent to about a million dollars a year today.
