Harkness and the Panda

Ruth Harkness captured three pandas in China and returned them to the wild. She was a moneyed party girl who had spent her fortune on these expeditions. But she died of acute alcoholic gastrointeritis, which is believed to have been caused by drinking. Her legacy: changing how public perceived animals like panda.
