In the northeast of cambodia, salot sar is born into a wealthy family. His father owns some 50 acres of rice paddy and employs local laborers to help bring it in. Sar's family also enjoys the benefits of being well connected. They have enviable ties to the king, who heads the country from his court in penompen. He had connections to the royal family, so even though he was in the countryside, he was connect he was cosmopolitan. And i think that that sort of dual perspective influenced him in many different ways.
