The Risky Battle of Hastings
Hastings is a hugely risky affair. The fact that the battle takes so long indicates that in terms of military technology, otherwise there's very little to distinguish these forces. So the battle was a high risk affair that could easily have gone either way. It was really a pro of the dice of heads, tails kind of affair, if you will. But actually well-trained infantry in this period on the top of a hill, which is where the English are, will not be defeated like cavalry. And they are not, in fact, in the early stages of the battle.
