If current level of diuresis becomes inadequate to relieve symptoms and signs of congestion, it is reasonable to intensify the diuretic regimen using either higher doses of intravenous loop diuretics or addition of a second diuretic. Dr. Lola: The dose trial now, my goodness, 12 years ago really taught us that high doses of diuretics work are safe and should not be avoided.
