The Disadvantages of Social Media

I think there's always been a temptation on the part of even good journalists to report on punches being thrown more than the reason for the punches being thrown. And I think that in Australia over many years now, we've lost something that I think we once had. There was a time when we had media that were less inclined to be seduced by that kind of stuff. We haven't lost that entirely but publications like the conversation have gone a long way. What you do in getting to the heart of the issues and not just the personalities is really, really important. The dangers inherent in the adversarial contest could blow the whole place up.
