Is Rifampin a Good Option for Endocarditis?
The mortality rates for prosthetic valve, staph aureus endocarditis are very high. The data that the gentomycin and Rifampin addition are based on are quite flimsy. And so we're in the situation of having to essentially undo the recommendations that have been made in the guidelines over the last nearly 30 years.
