Is There a Difference in Lichen Diversity?

We have genetic evidence, or genomic evidence, of what was going on with lichen species diversity in general. But we don't necessarily know all the reasons why. It looks like at least some species were doing really well and diversifying at this time right now. So you have widespread a plant devastation that that creates an opportunity for certain savy, composite organisms to rise up and fill the void. That's really interesting. A lot of work still remains here.
