Are You Trying on as Many Different Gender Roles as You Like?
Judith Butler says we don't actually have that degree of freedom because so much of our gender identities are imposed on us. But then there are people really, I don't know if people are really substantially happier with this like, suddenly being given the opportunity to try on as many different gender roles as they like at any time that they like. This is not a playful, you know, hedonic kind of polyvalen performance thing. People who are unhappy for one reason, thinking that they're unhappy for another, do potentially drastic things to themselves. And it not actually solving the problem. You can only choose how you feel about it.
