Is There a Problem With a Theory?
General relativity is able to account for far, far more than the mere bending of starlight during eclipses. This experiment is called a crucial test. The existence of a problem with a theory has little import except in forming research programmes. In that case, the problem becomes grounds for considering the problematic theory tentatively refuted. Science is a knowledge creation in the form of bold explanations machine. But the genuinely difficult part is positing grand explanations for what's actually going on in the world.
