The British economy needed cheap labour after the Second World War. There was a gap in the labour market, so many immigrants filled that gap. Pakistanis come to Bradford to do their jobs and live in the houses English people no longer want. This was Tharik's new home. He lived with his grandparents who worked in one of these manufacturing mills. For Tharik and many like him, it could feel like a hostile environment. They were almost always in the early phase racist without a shadow of a doubt. And sometimes they all look as well violent as well.
