Why You Don't Pay Someone for an Interview

The interviewee becomes not a source, but an employee. A story may be altered or embellished and sensationalized in order to attract more readers/viewers / listeners. The Society of Professional Journalists is against paying sources for their information. And one of the reasons people may offer them is that they are trying to make money from it.
