The Neurotransmitter of ADHD
Dopamine is the neurotransmitter that gets you to move and do. People with ADHD have lower levels of this, which means they need more dopamine in order to exceed a threshold for activation. Other people don't need as much dopamine because they can just get it from thinking about something important. It's also why one of the most crucial things for people with ADHD is that they spend the majority of their time doing things that they're actually interested in and challenged by.
