Deraiis Forbes: India's Boiler Man

Deraiis Forbes, known as India's boiler man who passed away on Friday morning at the age of 97 in Pune. He participated in pre-independence protests and had one such protest in support of Gandhiji's call to British to quit India that was fired upon. In 1943, he enrolled in the Banaras Hindu University of Bhu to study metallurgy; there Dr. Sarvapillirathakrishnan took him under his wing. It is my experience that there's something spiritually uplifting about great shop floors which reflect and carry the energy, enthusiasm and vibrations of those who work there.
