In 1990, movie producer Ted Field asked Jimmy to co-found a record company with him. Interscope soon made a name for being the place that let artists be in control. However, there was a relatively new form of music that Jimmy didn't even understand. It took one of the pioneers of hip-hop to break through to Jimmy. Dr. Dre opened Jimmy's eyes to the full artistry and potential of hip- hop.
