The first word of your book, losing our religion, is loss. Explain why you chose that title to capture this really complex experience of loss that people like us are going through right now. I liken this podcast to a campfire in the middle of the wilderness where you have stragglers coming out of the woods who are lost and bewildered. It's one of many such campfires we need for people to reorient themselves and make sense of the world that right now feels so bewildering.
Our good friend and partner in The After Party project, Russell Moore, joins us to talk about his new book, “Losing Our Religion: An Altar Call for Evangelical America.” Curtis and Russell talk about why “mapping” our loss is critical for those who currently feel culturally, politically, or spiritually homeless. We explore two kinds of maps - the “treasure map” and the “minefield map” - and why Christians need both.
