In your book, China's Revolutions in the Modern World, you present seven chapters. The first chapter starts with the Taiping Rebellion in the mid 19th century. I don't think that you can draw a straight line from the Taipings to the Chinese Communist Revolution in the 20th century. And so it's about how people are forced to reread their past in fashioning a new present and imagining a new future.
