The Rex of Two

In a letter to his wife, John L. Smith wrote that he had had enough of seeing pilots burn and blow up in his face. "I've gotten 18 of them so far and I'm getting sick of seeing them burn" He was shot down but picked up by friendly natives on Guadalcanal. But as he was making his way back to the cove where they were going to extricate him from there, he passed two crashed aircraft with their bodies still inside.
