Perl: A Difficult Language

It was impossible to do any kind of refactoring on it because it was just so difficult to develop in Perl for a start. And that's a very difficult language. We had this framework for doing literate programming, which was kind of popular at the time. At some point we decided this was not really been maintaining the comments as well as the code and went back to code being the default.
