The Politics of Military Victory in the Middle East
CNN's John Defterios says the U.S. feels best about military victory, political objectives achieved in a conflict. He argues that not all these wars fit this category of World War II where you have a surrender on a battleship and then your enemy becomes your ally. The war we fought against ISIS provides a template for how to use a small deployment of American ground forces harnessed to us air capabilities working with local proxies to deal with future militant threats, he says.
