GraphQL: A Reactive Data Layer

GraphQL is one modern way that you can get a fully reactive data layer. So does it provide you with features for polling and stuff like that? Well, so polling is an imperative way of thinking. Behind the scenes, it may use polling in a fallback scenario. But the thing was you didn't actually have to care. You could literally bind portion of your UI to a client side collection, and basically a Mongo collection. And as you subscribe to the server, imagine the server had a leaderboard of a game. As that leaderboard changes, everything up the stack reacts as fast as possible. Why is this not more widely used? I don't know.
