How Do You Know What You're Reading?

The majority of the words in a language fall away. And they're only something that you're likely to encounter when you read a book or at least likely to encounter with any frequency. Without them, you can't understand things that you read. There's another example given about how background knowledge is necessary for cognitive skills. So there's this experiment, quite famous experiment now, looking at reasoning in different contexts. But then exactly the same reasoning applies to the first example but you probably found the first example significantly more difficult.
