The Probability of RCT Results

When you see a result that looks too good to be true, it probably is. The model seems to imply that if people were rational, experimenters would hope their RCT results would turn up kind of good, but not very good. In Bayesian terms, this means thinking about the correct amount for the study to update you away from your priors. If you try four interventions at random, one of them will probably be better than the intervention that looks best to you.
