During my nearly eight years as director, our emergency operations center was activated more than 90 % of the time. In the background, you've got the last mile of the poleo eradication program going and c d c is a corps partner in getting over the finish line there. When that initiative was launched in the 19 eighties, a thousand children a day were getting poleo. And we're now down to single ditches, but we're not over the finished line, and could come roaring back if we don't do a better job.
