The Secret of Getting a Job Offer
Jim Murphy had been a Whip for about two years in the Blair Government. The phone rang while he was taking his daughter to school and offered him a job. But later that day, when he was picking her up from school, another call came asking if he would hold for Prime Minister Tony Blair. He hadn't realised he'd also given him an offer of work before then. This time it was at the Cabinet Office - but no-one knew what this second job was.
