In the roaring twenties, America enjoyed a rising standard of living far beyond anything previous generations had experienced. With more money in their pockets, americans became eager consumers. New mass marketed products flew off the shelves from radios and refrigerators to cosmetics and ready to wear clothes. These spending sprees sent corporate profits soaring between 19 23 and 19 29. The consumer economy was also fuelled by the growth of advertising. Manufacturers launched elaborate add campaigns through newspapers, radio bill boards and motion pictures.
